The wheelset/axle changing installation consists of a traversable lift table, four track bridges and a support device. The lift table lifts/ lowers the locomotive, is used for dismantling / assembly and for moving the bogie or axle between work pits. The track bridges can be retracted and extended by means of electric lift cylinders. When extended, they enable crossing / lowering the vehicle s and the bogie or axle above the work pits. The electric lift cylinders are fixed in the wall of the pit. The support device holds the lifted out vehicle above the pit so that the bogie or axles can be fitted / dismantled with the help of the lift table. It can travel horizontally along the ground via an anchor rail mounted on rollers. The clamp takes up the carried load. Unloaded, it can be moved by means of a handwheel and pinion-gear rack drive installed in the support block. The load is transferred via support / sliding surfaces in the construction of the support block.

The load on the lift table is transferred through the lift truck construction, through the spindle nut, the spindle and the spindle cross beam into the post structure. The spindle is hung supported in an self-aligning roller thrust bearing in the spindle cross-beam and is driven by a plugged in geared motor.
The spindles are protected against dirt by bellows.
The rotary movement of the geared motor moves the lift truck and, depending on the rotational direction, performs a lifting or lowering movement. A PCS controlled, load-independent synchro control prevents uneven lifting of the rail vehicle. The installed PCS controls and monitors all the system's functions. Due to the safety relevance of the lifting functions to be monitored, the synchro control function is provided with safety category 2 to EN 954-1.
The lift table can either be controlled from the radio remote control or from the control cabinet.
The load cell rings installed in the lift table prevent overloading of the system.
