Maschinen- and Stahlbau Dresden: Quality since 1946.
As a branch of the Herrenknecht AG, Maschinen- und Stahlbau Dresden (MSD) is a renowned equipment supplier for mechanical tunnel constructions. In addition, the company delivers customized transport and conveyor systems for numerous other industries. An outstanding feature of MSD is its continuous range of services from the idea through to start-up.
A company with tradition.
Maschinen- und Stahlbau Dresden (MSD) is a medium-sized company based in the state capital of Saxony. It focuses on tailor-made transport and conveyor systems and special working platforms and steel structures. The firm was founded in 1946, under the name "Hünich und Löwe", as a company for the reconstruction of industrial plants. During the company's eventful history with nationalisation, numerous changes in name and re-privatisation, railway engineering, mechanical engineering and structural steelwork have crystallised out as its core competencies.
Unique complete service.
With the takeover of the company by the Baden company Herrenknecht AG, a worldwide leading manufacturer of tunnelling machines, in 1991 MSD extended its portfolio to include customized equipment for these machines and for tunnelling in general. This and all other products made by MSD are not only developed, planned and designed by the employees at the Dresden location but are also produced and assembled here and later started up and serviced at their place of use. This complete service, unusual when compared to the rest of the industry, not only enables technically complex special structures requiring high craftsman standards to be realised quickly but is also an important contribution to quality assurance.
At home in many industries.
Special solutions from MSD are in use in the whole world and in numerous industries – apart from the already mentioned tunnel construction, for example, also in aircraft construction, in railway wagon and carriage construction, in rail vehicle construction, in the construction industry, the ceramics industry, in the precast concrete element industry, in the chemical and in the pharmaceutical industry.
Sought-after apprenticeship partner and fair employer.
The company currently has around 110 employees. When recruiting highly qualified development engineers, MSD profits above all from the highly traditional university location of Dresden with its renowned engineering science faculties. Technical personnel in the production department are mostly trained in-house by the company itself. With its lean company structure, modern production facilities, a broad product portfolio and its international orientation, MSD is a much sought-after apprenticeship partner and employer.
